Visit from the Netherlands!
Visit from the Netherlands - one of two amazing Dutch people called George!
As some of you may be aware, our former Head Teacher, Marloes, who now serves on the Kenyan board, is from the Netherlands. When she expressed that she wanted to initiate a lunch program, her uncle George and her parents, George and Lydia, eagerly jumped in to support without hesitation. Together, they launched a Go Fund Me-campaign to back the lunch program. Additionally, they enlisted the support of West Company to assist our Special Education Needs Coordinator, Violet. Exploring our network internationally to the Netherlands has also given us more monthly donors - who are incredibly vital for our daily school needs. Thank you for this!
This month, one of the amazing Georges visited Kenya, so we had the immense pleasure of welcoming Marloes' father to the school on our very first day back from the mid-term break. While he had been to the school previously, it was during a time when there were no students present, so this visit was much more enjoyable for all of us. We had a packed day, touring the entire compound, including our new workshop area. He shared a meal with the students from Class 6 and had the opportunity to meet Teacher Violet and learn about her work in our Leap Lab. Our permaculture expert, Stephen, and Kazungu, our gardener, gave George a tour of our new school garden, and George had the chance to send a heartfelt thank you to Yvonne, who has supported the entire garden project.
It was truly wonderful to meet George and finally put a face to someone we've mostly known through emails. George, karibu sana the next time you're in Kenya, and a massive thank you to you, your family, and your network for everything you do for our students! Your support is invaluable.
